Our six NC Mountain Cabin Rentals are within a short drive to all the local attractions. Just north on the 441 from Sunset Farm Cabins guests will enjoy shopping, restaurants, Harrah's Casino, fishing, picnicking, museums, culture, the Smoky Mountain National Park, the Blue Ridge Parkway and much more all in Cherokee. This famous and popular North Carolina town is the mouth of entering the Smoky Mountain National Park and the beginning of Blue Ridge Parkway. It is not uncommon to catch a spectacular view of Elk or wild Bear while driving on the north side of Cherokee on your way to the entrance to the park. The Cherokee Indians have an incredible history that although unknown exactly is estimated to date back 11,000 years ago. For guests that would like to learn more about the tribe and history we recommend visiting the local Museum of the Cherokee Indians that has been opened since 1948. Another very popular activity is the viewing of "Unto These Hills Outdoor Drama" at the Mountainside Theatre which is the second longest running outdoor drama in the United States and started in 1948.

For visitors with the gaming bug, the newly renovated and expanded Harrah’s Casino truly is the heart of Cherokee and located about 10-15 minutes from our Cabins. From brand-new games and slots to dazzling favorites like Digital Blackjack and Baccarito, they've got it! The new expansion also brought in the famous Paula Deen’s Kitchen with true southern cooking.

We can't bypass mentioning fishing on the waters throughout Cherokee. The tribe sells licenses separate from the state that are valid just for Cherokee land and are required. Two times per week thousands of farm raised trout are released for anglers to enjoy catching. Anglers that enjoy fly fishing don't want to miss the world famous Trophy Waters where they will have great chances at reeling in possibly a record sized trout. Although these Fly Fishing Trophy Waters are catch-n-release only they provide excitement time and time again. For those that want to cast fish and enjoy cooking some of the daily catch doesn’t need to worry as there are many locations throughout the reservation for anglers to enjoy. Anglers should visit our fishing page for further details and links to maps and helpful websites.

Cherokee doesn’t stop there either. For families with children, visiting one of Cherokee’s Bear Zoos, Gem Mine or Cherokee Dancers will sure add some excitement to the day. A favorite free activity for families is the Oconaluftee Islands Park located next to the Oconaluftee River. Young children can splash and play in the ankle deep water while bigger kids can float down the stream in innertubes. In 2009 the Sequoyah National Golf Club opened and is truly a spectacular course designed by Robert Trent Jones. This course boasts stunning mountain views and ranks as the 9th best course in North Carolina. We have joined up with the management to offer our guests a special discount on green fees. Check out our golf packages for more information.
