Tsali Map

Tsali is the absolute most popular and technical trails in Western NC. Riders will expect a lot of memorable single track throughout the 4 looped trails and tons of picturesque Fontana lake views from vistas. These 42 miles of trails are not for unexperienced riders and we do recommend familiarizing yourself with trail maps before heading out. Some of our favorite aspects of this well maintained park service is that the trails are specifically designated for mountain biking and horseback riding but they alternate activities everyday. The Right Loop (11 miles) and Left Loop (11.9 miles) are mountain bike only Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday and the Thompson Loop (7.7 miles) and Mouse Branch Loop (9 miles) are mountain bike only Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday's. This means you will NOT be running into horseback riders on the trail...unless you or they are not following the rules. The other well thought out rule is that the trails are recommended to be one way so you do not encounter head on riders (this does not always work perfectly so please keep yours eyes and ears open at all times). Make sure you ride with plenty of liquids and snacks to sustain a possible multiple hours excursion. For detailed directions from our cabins click here or for a detailed trail map click here. Tsali does have a nominal daily fee to park and ride that goes to the upkeep. Envelopes are located at the trailhead for your convenience.

For casual riders that want to experience some beautiful easy going trails we recommend visiting Deep Creek located in the Smoky Mountain National Park just through Bryson City, NC. This popular spot draws travelers for camping, hiking, tubing, picnicking, and of course some casual mountain biking. If you are looking for a getaway from it all type location...Deep Creek is not it but we do guarantee some wonderful creek side riding in our Smoky Mountain National Park. Bicycles are allowed on Deep Creek and Indian Creek tails to the points where the old roadbeds end and the trail treads begin. A perfect daily trip may include some biking and tubing to cool off. Deep Creek is open from April - late October and is free to park and enjoy the trails.

A new option for riders is located in the Nantahala Gorge at the NOC. The Flint Ridge Trail was designed specifically for mountain bikers. The great thing about this trail is that you can rent a bike at the NOC and head straight out on the trail without driving. The trail itself features some technical riding as well as some rolling single-track. The trail is about 4.5 miles, with a loop at the end. Riders will also enjoy some incredible views of the Nantahala Gorge. Since this trail is completely on NOC property, it is open year round and not accessible to horses. If you are interested in more information visit the NOC website.
